Hello, my name is Laura Gray, and I have worked in both higher education and as an instructional designer for the past seven years. As an associate professor in higher ed, I stress to my students that being a good designer first involves knowing who the learner is and what his or her needs are. I specialize in helping teachers and institutions transition from face-to-face learning to online learning and have given many professional workshops on this topic. In addition, my work as an instructional designer has led me to embrace the changes in our field as well as the importance of quality and relevance in my designs.
In addition to having a Ph.D. in instructional design (with an emphasis in online learning), I have both a M.Ed. and Ed.S. in school counseling, earned from the University of Southern Mississippi and the University of South Alabama, respectively, and a B.A. in secondary English and social studies education from the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
I have a wonderful husband named Brian, two grown sons, a daughter, two cats, and two dogs. When I’m not working, I enjoy traveling, reading, dining out, shopping, and spending time with my family, friends, and pets.
