March felt like it came in like a lion for me. As I reflect back over this month, I realize it was extremely busy and certainly full of challenges. Nevertheless, I also realize I am now in a much better position to handle the month of April. Just four weeks ago, I was still struggling with such things as reference letters, social media accounts, a viable cover letter, and a robust curriculum vitae. Today, as job leads come in, I have solid tools in place to showcase my best attributes, and in turn, I have a much better chance at landing that first needed interview.
This past month was indeed challenging. On top of balancing work and family, I was dealing with recovering and healing from a minor surgery. I’m happy to say, however, that I was still highly successful in continuing on in my journey towards online teaching. Hey, there is no rest for the weary! And I now have more reference letters than I originally intended, as I am fortunate enough to have contacts that reached out to me and offered their assistance. I feel truly blessed and thankful for the generosity and willingness of these individuals to help me in the pursuit of
During my healing process, I have also taken the time to build and expand upon my social media accounts. This is particularly important to me for a couple of reasons. First, it’s very important to stay involved in issues that are being discussed and circulated. This is especially true for issues that are relevant to me, my lifestyle, career, and goals. Second, I prefer to have multiple options for communication. This allows a variety of individuals to reach me and make connections in different ways. I have already seen great value in this. I used The Babb Group services to help with my LinkedIn account. If you are considering this for your own profile, then I can only reassure you. You will not be disappointed. I highly recommend it. My LinkedIn account looks spectacular now and I am continuing to build connections daily. And in the end, that’s really what social media is all about. It helps us get out there, network and shine!
So, as April and spring time arrive here in the south, we are basking in our yellow snow known to induce bouts of sniffling, sneezing and watery eyes....ah, yes, you guessed it, I’m talking about pollen. The snow of the south. It is everywhere. There is no escaping. And speaking of no escaping, the IRS tax deadline will soon be here. Did you know it is April 18th this year? That’s right. This year the Emancipation Day holiday falls on April 15th, so the filing deadline was extended until the following Monday. Great news for those last minute filers.
Well with all of the joyous things that April brings, none can compare to the wonderful package of documents that I now have ready at my fingertips. I no longer have to stop as I approach a job lead because I’m not quite sure about that cover letter, CV, or reference. I can start an application and continue without hesitation. What a great feeling! It’s going to be an awesome month of completing one application after the next. After this reflection, I believe March was just a kitten and April will be the month of the lion! I’m ready for it. Let it roar!
